Termsof the 25-year agreement were not made public. Tri-State provides wholesale electricpower to 44 distribution cooperatives in Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico andWyoming.
"Thiswas a timely and cost-effective opportunity for us to diversify our generationfleet and deepen our expertise in the challenging area of integrating variableenergy resources," says Brad Nebergall, Tri-State's senior vice president.
Whilethe deal will help the company meet renewable energy mandates in both Coloradoand New Mexico, Tri-State believes they are unnecessary.
