The first of three stages to be completed at the Cristal wind power complex, the new plant comprises 13 2.3MW Siemens turbines for a total capacity of 30MW.

Once completed, the €165m ($226m) Cristal project will have a total capacity of 90MW.

The company did not specify a completion or operations schedule for the complex.

EGP, which is building the wind farms through its subsidiary Enel Brasil Participacoes, won the contracts for the plants in the September 2010 wind-power tender.
