A number of new blades were shipped to the plant after thebreakage on one of the 58 GE 1.6-100turbines being commissioned at the wind farm in Wyoming County.

In December, GE said it determined that theroot cause of the Orangeville blade break and another at a Michigan wind farm owned byutility DTE Energy was a “spar cap manufacturing anomaly”.

The turbine manufacturer pledged to put extra controls in place in a bid to prevent future problems.

Orangeville is sited near Invenergy’s112.5MW
