Acciona bags $111m Mexico order
Acciona has signed a $111m contract to design and build a 49.5MW wind farm in southern Mexico.
The Ingenio project, on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, was developed by Acciona’s Mexican subsidiary before being sold to private investment firms Actis and Comexhidro.
The wind farm will be equipped with 33 Acciona AW77/1500 turbines, each rated at 1.5MW.
Construction work at the site – near Acciona’s Eurus and Oaxaca 2, 3 and 4 wind farms – is planned to start in October, with completion expected in the fourth quarter of 2015.
Ingenio is Acciona Energy’s second turnkey contract in Mexico. The Spanish company has contracts to build 300MW of wind for clients there over the next two years.
