The Massif du Sud and Lac Alfred projects represent the second and third of seven total wind farms that EDF EN was awarded as part of Québec’s 2008 tender, following the 80MW Saint-Robert-Bellarmin project the French developer commissioned last October.
The second 150MW phase at Lac Alfred is due for completion by the end of 2013.
All of EDF’s Québec projects will be kitted out with REpower’s MM92 turbines – rated at 2MW each and specially designed for cold climates – under the 954MW framework agreement the Suzlon-owned turbine maker inked in 2009 with EDF EN and RES Canada.
