Nordex gets another Uruguay order
German wind equipment group Nordex has inked its second order in Uruguay in the space of a few days.
The US unit of the turbine manufacturer has reached an agreement with Uruguay’s state power company UTE for the sale of 28 of its N117/2400 machines.
Nordex is slated to deliver the turbines in February 2014 with project completion in June 2014.
The company will also be responsible for maintenance at the 67.2MW Juan Pablo Terra wind farm for at least 10 years.
The wind park is located close to Artigas on the border with Brazil, 370 miles from the capital Montevideo. It will be the largest wind farm owned by UTE.
Each of the 2.4MW turbines will have a 91-metre tower.
Nordex on Monday announced that it will supply 50MW to Akuo Energy for the Florida wind project in southern Uruguay. That project, due for completion in the fourth quarter of 2013, was the first order for the N117/2400 model in Latin America.
