The “brilliant”  turbines – so-called for their ability to process tens of thousands of data points every second to manage wind variability and communicate  with neighbouring machines to generate more reliable output – are to be installed later this year, with switch-on slated for the end of 2013.

GE’s wind product line general manager Keith Longtin said:  “This new marriage of battery storage and advanced software within a wind turbine allows forward-thinking wind energy producers like Invenergy to shift the winds in its favour – increasing wind power’s efficiency and short-term predictability.”
