In a 10 May regulatory filing, Dean Crist, the electric utility’s vice president of regulation, says the arrangement would have MidAmerican assume a Facebook option on a wind farm site and then develop it as part of Wind VIII. In exchange, Facebook would get RECS in relation to the value of the transferred site.
Separately, Crist says that MidAmerican plans to file for approval by the Iowa State Utilities Board of a green energy rate offering applicable to Facebook’s “unique circumstances,” and to make a green energy offering more widely available on a voluntary basis.
