The auction will see all types of energy sources, including wind, solar, hydro and thermal, competing for 20-year power-purchase agreements (PPAs) with an initial delivery date set for 1 January 2016.
The postponement means that developers will face a even tighter schedule to get successful projects online. Revisions to the schedule of Brazil's power auctions have taken place on several occasions over the past few years.
