The US unit of the French energy giant will use GE’s 1.85MW turbines for the 200MW first phase of the Hereford wind farm.

EDF RE is acquring Hereford phase one from developer Lincoln Renewable Energy, and has an option for a further 500MW. It has also clinched a long-term hedge on the first phase.

Ryan Pfaff, executive vice president of EDF Renewable Energy, said: "The deal can largely be credited to our long-term relationships with both GE and our hedge provider, and the confidence amongst the parties that each will deliver on its respective commitments."
