Acciona gets Brazil content all-clear
Acciona Windpower said it has received the all-clear from Brazilian development bank BNDES over its local-content and manufacturing arrangements.
The BNDES approval gives the Spanish wind turbine manufacturer’s Brazilian customers access to preferential finance under tighter regulations for foreign producers unveiled last year.
Acciona has serious ambitions in Brazil, where it inaugurated a wind turbine hub plant at Simões Filho, Bahia, in March.
The company has also unveiled plans for a nacelle plant, also in Bahia, with the capacity to produce 100 of the company’s AW3000 3MW turbines per year.
Acciona is already supplying 3MW turbines for a 120MW project developed by CPFL in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and has contracts to supply 210MW for two wind power projects being developed by Voltalia in Rio Grande do Norte.
Other foreign manufacturers to meet the BNDES rules are Gamesa, also of Spain, France’s Alstom and Argentinian producer Impsa.
