GE wins 190MW more in Brazil

US manufacturer GE has secured a 190MW turbine order from Brazilian developer Casa dos Ventos, Recharge has learned.

The machines will be installed at the Ventos de Santa Brígida wind complex.

The wind farm, located in the northeast state of Pernambuco, is due to become operational by September 2015.

The order takes GE to a total of 400MW sales for projects that were awarded in the last wind-only tender, held in August.

The other 210MW has also been taken by Casa dos Ventos for the Ventos de Santa Joana wind project, to be built in Piauí.

Casa dos Ventos is one of the most prominent wind developers in Brazil. In the last auction, it realised 611MW of new wind capacity either competing by itself or in consortia.
