When asked by Recharge about the status of the plant, Michael Weidemann, executive vice president of Enercon Canada, answered, “That’s a good question.”

The plant was first announced in September 2011 after Enercon was chosen by developer Niagara Region Wind to provide 77 E-101 3MW wind turbines for a project in Ontario. Niagara has a feed-in tariff contract from programme administrator Ontario Power Authority to supply electricity from the facility to the province.
