Brazil’sEnergy Ministry has today published the final rules for the procurement round,which is looking for new generation capacity to come online by May 2018.

The poolof distribution companies that will take part in the tender as off-takers willbe able to sign three different types of contract: one for hydropower, anotherfor thermal generation and a third covering solar and wind projects.

It isunclear whether the government will split the demand required by the distributorsamong the various sources, or whether the competition will be led by thecheapest prices offered by investors.
