Themapping research was carried out by Brazilian company Camargo Schubert. It used150-metre-high anemometer towers to measure the wind resource.

Thecurrent Brazil national wind map, based on 50-metre-high measurement towers, suggestsa total wind resource in the entire country of 143GW. Specialistsestimate that if 100-metre high anemometers were used, that could rise to 300GW.

“The maphas compiled data from 156 anemometer towers – a number never used in nationaland state-scale wind mapping," says Paulo Câmera, Bahia's government secretary.
