The acquisition, announced last November, creates one of the world’s most formidable renewable-energy companies, with interests running from polysilicon manufacturing to wind and solar development, and – through TerraForm Power – power-plant operation.

"With the acquisition of First Wind, SunEdison becomes the leading renewable energy developer in the world," says Ahmad Chatila, President and Chief Executive Officer of SunEdison.

Since November’s announcement, SunEdison has been busy raising money to fund the acquisition, including nailing down loans secured with the company’s shares in TerraForm, and raising $190m through a secondary offering of shares in SunEdison Semiconductor, which it spun off last year.
