Indian wind set for five-year investment boom, says Suzlon boss

Suzlon chairman Tulsi Tanti said India’s wind sector is set for five years of bumper investment, as his company refocuses on a domestic market tipped to attract up to 1trn rupees ($16bn) by the end of the decade.

Tanti said Suzlon is expecting investment in the Indian wind market to grow by 50% in the current and next financial years, with momentum set to continue up to 2020.

Speaking to India’s Economic Times, Tanti said: “Investment is flowing very aggressively”. The Suzlon boss backed a recent forecast from analyst firm CRISIL suggesting a potential 1trn rupees will be pumped into Indian wind by 2020.
