Rudd has already ended support early for onshore projects under the outgoing renewables obligation (RO) mechanism, and was today asked by UK members of parliament if she anticipated the renewable source featuring in subsequent CfD auctions.

“I wouldn’t, no,” Rudd replied, pointing to her Conservative government’s election promise to end onshore wind subsidies.

Rudd’s comment was met with dismay by the UK onshore sector, which claims the government is illogically discriminating against the most cost-effective renewable generator, which will be near-subsidy-free anyway within a few years.
