Enercon says the project is Europe's largest battery-based energy storage plant.
"Thanks to their overwhelming success renewables now have reached the status of systematically important power plants," Enercon managing director Hans-Dieter Kettwig said.
Kettwig appealed to politicians to provide incentives for operators to invest in storage technology in order to be able to replace more fossil power plants that damage the climate.
