This is the under-construction Noordoostpolder project in northern Netherlands — the world’s first onshore/offshore facility and, at 429MW, one of the largest wind farms in Europe. Its 144MW offshore section is a pioneer of large-scale freshwater installation, while its onshore component will see the largest ever installation of the world’s biggest onshore turbine — Enercon’s 7.5MW E126.

In a way, it is also the biggest wind repowering project to date, replacing a 15MW facility that was the largest wind project in Europe in 1991, when it was completed by Dutch utility Essent.
