A spokeswoman for The Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) tells Recharge it believes the outcome of Spain’s first ever auction “is not significant as it doesn’t reflect the reality of the sector”.

AEE says the auction was “isolated, with no timetable for further awards” and “small-sized” in the context of a sector where activity has been paralysed for several years.

The auction resulted in Spanish green energy group Forestalia, and another company controlled by the Samper family,  between them securing the right to build 402MW of wind capacity.
