The German OEM will deliver 108MW of capacity to the second stage of the Galway Wind Park, near Oughterard in the west of Ireland.

Siemens had already booked an order for 22 SWT-3.0-101machines for the first phase of Galway Wind Park, which will be Ireland’s biggest wind facility when it reaches full capacity by the end of 2017.

The project’s joint owners – UK-based utility SSE and Irish forestry group Coillte – secured €176m ($191m) of financing to build the wind farm earlier this month.
