Central Maine Power, a unit of Iberdrola’s Avangrid, and Emera Maine, a unit of Nova Scotia-based Emera Inc., submitted their Maine Renewable Energy Interconnect (MREI) proposal, which would see them jointly building and owning power lines, substations and other transmission assets connecting northern Maine’s largely untapped wind potential with New England’s grid, known as ISO-New England.

The power lines would allow up to 1.2GW
