Vestas with the purchase is strengthening its growing O&M business. With more than 50GW under service, the Danish wind turbine maker is the world's biggest wind O&M provider.
Vestas in December had already announced it would buy San Diego-based independent service provider UpWind Solutions for $60m, widening its scope in the US service market.
Availon has about 400 employees and more than 2.6GW
