Goldwind adds ZephIR lidar as 6MW offshore prototype moves forward

Goldwind has installed a ZephIR DM system on the machine in Dafeng, Jiangsu province, said the lidar supplier.

The ZephIR system will be used for “optimising the prototype turbine before it enters mass production”, with data collected assisting the certification process by DNV GL.

Goldwind installed the 6MW direct-drive prototype turbine at Dafeng in 2014.

Like China as a whole, Goldwind’s progress in offshore wind has been slower than expected.
