Ofgem said the tender will be worth almost £400m ($666m), with the successful operator for each link receiving a 20-year guaranteed income from the transmission projects off eastern England.

Humber Gateway is being built by E.ON with a 219MW capacity, while Dong’s Westermost Rough will have 210MW.

The process will be the third Offshore Transmission Owner (OFTO) tender round to be run by Ofgem, which said “lessons learned” from previous rounds would be applied in order to make the process quicker and simpler.
