Alstom gets 51MW Turkey order

French manufacturer Alstom has been commissioned by Turkish developer Petkim to supply 17 of its 3MW turbines for a wind farm in Izmir, western Turkey.

The two installation phases of the project will see nine ECO 110 turbines totalling 27MW operational in 2015 and the other eight completed by the end of 2016.

Alstom will provide operations and maintenance (O&M) at the project for a period of 15 years under the €55m ($75.8m) deal.

Turkey's energy minister Taner Yildiz claimed earlier this year that the country is on course to achieve its target of sourcing 30% of its power needs from renewables by 2023.

The country is aiming to have 20GW of wind power in place in by that date.
