Eletrosul puts 200MW into auctions

Brazil's federal power company Eletrosul has preliminarily registered 200MW of wind power projects for this year's auctions.

These include new projects, in partnerships or alone, and plans for the expansion of wind farms currently being built, a company spokesperson said, declining to give details.

Brazil's government plans to hold at least two power auctions in 2014 that will include wind, the A-3 and A-5 processes.

Eletrosul is currently developing 583MW of wind farms in southern Brazil with partners, including projects that sold power at the A-3 auction in 2013.

The projects are separated into the 144MW Chuí, the 181MW Geribatu and the 258MW Hermenegildo complexes. All are located in the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The company plans soon to rename the three as the larger Campos Neutrais complex, the spokesperson said.
