Consent was granted for ScottishPower Renewables’ 22-turbine wind farm at Ewe Hill.

The 51MW project represents a £65m ($109m) investment for the Iberdrola-owned developer.

“The Ewe Hill wind farm will create a significant number of jobs, as well as generating power for many thousands of homes,” said energy minister Fergus Ewing.

At the same time, however, the Scottish government refused an application for RWE Innogy's 21-turbine, 69MW Rowantree wind farm near Oxton in the Scottish Borders on the grounds of noise impacts to nearby residents and the effect on views.
