Located in the country’s Eastern Cape, the wind project, South Africa’s largest to date, was one of the first to be developed under the government’s renewable energy programme.

The 60 2.3MW wind turbines were supplied by Siemens.

A consortium comprising Mainstream Renewable Power, Globeleq, Old Mutual, Thebe Investment Corporation, Enzani Technologies and Usizo Engineering, as well as a local community trust, developed the project.
