The 26-turbine wind farm, located 5km south of Strathaven, southern Scotland, will power the equivalent of up to 49,000 homes in the area, said a government statement.

It added that the project will deliver £4m ($6.7m) over the lifetime of the development to the local community in South Lanarkshire.

“Wind farms like Kype Muir provide considerable benefits to their local community, and play an important part in helping Scotland reach its target of the equivalent of 100% of electricity demand generated from renewables,” says Scotland’s energy minister, Fergus Ewing.
