Engel left Vestas in August 2013 after eight years in the top job at the Danish wind turbine giant.

The think-tank has been set up by Niels Duedahl, CEO at Danish energy firm SE. It will also include a number of prominent Danish business leaders and scientists.

Engel told Danish daily Borsen that he took the role because he shares the organisation’s vision of sustainable growth, and believes his experience in the wind industry – and before that as boss of paint and coatings group Hempel – can help achieve it.
