Alstom inks Brazil turbine deal
Alstom has signed a contract with CPFL Renovaveis to deliver, erect and commission 19 ECO 122 turbines in the 50MW Pedra Cheirosa complex in Ceara State in northeast Brazil.
The contract was signed within the framework of the last A-5 auction covering projects that will need to operate in the next five years. The turbines will be ready for commercial operation by December 2017.
The deal is Alstom’s first project with CPFL Renovaveis. Alstom will manufacture the nacelles at its Camacari plant in Bahia State.
“Brazil is continuing to take advantage of its tremendous wind potential. The partnership with CPFL Renovaveis is a confirmation of our local strategy which is to improve the use of renewable sources, develop sustainable projects and focus on creating jobs,” says Yves Rannou, senior vice president of Alstom’s wind business.
