Invenergy switches on Goldthwaite
Invenergy, the third largest US-owned wind developer, has begun full commercial operation at its 148.6MW Goldthwaite project in central Texas.
The facility utilizes 83 General Electric 1.7 MW wind turbines and three of the vendor’s new 2.5MW “brilliant” units which feature short-term battery storage. These are the first such turbines installed in the United States.
“We’re proud to begin operation at Goldthwaite and utilize the latest in wind turbine technology,” says Invenergy chief development officer Jim Shield.
Invenergy is among GE’s largest turbine customers in North America.
