The institute’s latest Vital Signs Online trend analysis shows PV has bypassed biofuels as the top renewable energy job generator.

Global PV employment is estimated to have expanded from 1.4 million jobs in 2012 to 2.3 million in 2013, fuelled by a boom in installations and despite upheavals in the sector caused by competition, over-capacities and tumbling prices.

Employment in the next-largest global renewables sector, wind power, was estimated at some 834,000 jobs last year.
