Siemens said he installation puts HelWin 2 “on the home stretch” ahead of the start of operations in the coming year.
It is building the 690MW HelWin2 for TenneT, the network operator responsible for delivering offshore wind connections in the German North Sea.
Together with the already installed 576MWHelwin1 station, it will connect a cluster of wind farms near the island of Amrum, converting alternating current (AC) into DC and sending it 130km to an onshore grid connection.
