Two concrete gravity base caissons for the met masts arrived from Cartagena, Spain, carried by the Chinese Xia Zhi Yuan 6 heavy lift vessel.

One of the caissons will be used at the Inch Cape wind farm site off the Angus coastline, while the second will go further north to the Moray site. Both projects are envisaged around 1GW of capacity.

"Having been involved with the initial test turbines that were established in the Beatrice offshore wind farm in 2010, it was a natural progression that the port as a whole and Invergordon Service Base in particular would be a strong contender for this next phase," says Bob Buskie, CEO for the port.
