The project, awarded under the first round of French offshore wind tenders in 2012, was originally slated to use the manufacturer’s 5MW machine.

"Thanks to their increased power, the number of turbines to be installed at the Saint-Brieuc offshore project will be reduced from 100 to 62 and total installed capacity will be 496MW," Ailes Marines told Recharge.

The choice of the new turbine must be validated by the Ministry of the Ecology and Sustainable Development (MEDDE), the company added.
