The court ruled that the fee breached the constitution of the country.

The Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) welcomed the court’s decision. The BPVA’s chair Meglena Rusenova said the ruling restores the rule of law and will stabilise the country’s energy sector.

The measure was introduced by the outgoing government in order to secure the revenues of the national grid operator.

Renewables lobby groups in Bulgaria had warned that the highly politicised decision could decimate investment in the country.
