Brazil adds 48MW to Cerro Chato
Brazil's state power company Eletrosul has started construction of three wind farms that will add 48MW to the Cerro Chato complex in Rio Grande do Sul, bringing it to 216MW.
The new wind farms are the 30MW Coxilha Seca, the 10MW Capao do Ingles and the 8MW Galpoes. They are due to begin commercial operation in 2016.
Eletrosul will invest R$270m ($118m) with 80% of that amount to be financed by Germany's national development bank KfW. Gamesa will supply G114-2.0MW turbines.
Cerro Chato began operation in 2011 with 90MW generating capacity. In 2012, another 78MW was commissioned, with 30MW now in operation. An estimated R$825m has been invested so far in the complex.
