This is Gamesa's first wind wind farm in the South American country and was built with 18 of its G90-2.0MW machines.

Construction had started in January 2013 on Chiloé Island, where the farm is located.

The Spanish company built all the necessary infrastructure and signed a 12-year operation and maintenance contract with Transantartic.

Gamesa says that Chile had a wind installed capacity of 413MW at the end of 2013, which should more than triple to 1.5GW
