LIPA will now negotiate contracts for the solar power from 11 projects. It will request an additional 160MW of renewable energy in the future after it completes an Integrated Resource Plan.
LIPA had shortlisted the Deepwater ONE project, which would be located in Atlantic Ocean federal waters 30 miles (48km) east of Montauk on Long Island.
"We remain confident that our Deepwater ONE project will supply Northeast states with clean energy in the near future.
