Turbines, which account for 70%-80% of the total cost of installing an onshore wind farm, have seen their cost slip 18% since last year, according to a survey conducted by New Energy Finance.

The price of turbines peaked at €1.3m ($1.8m) per megawatt (MW) in 2008, based on contracts signed for delivery in 2009. But an oversupply in the market means that contracts being signed today for delivery in 2010 are seeing an average price of €1.0/MW.
