Noble Denton’s Group Director for Renewables, Ian Bonnon says that key developments have been the resolution of a dispute between the Minerals Management Service and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission over jurisdiction which had impacted offshore renewables developments in the past.
However key challenges going forward include reforming the Merchant Marine Act – known as the Jones Act, which requires products shipped from US ports to be transported in vessels built in the US, US flagged or manned by US personnel.
