“Demand for vessels in marine renewables remains high,” says Subocean operations director Mike Daniels. “We are investing heavily in our assets to help us capitalise on the recent international and national contracts we have won in marine renewables,”
The money includes £5m to re-fit the cable-laying barge ATM Discoverer, with mobilisation work being done in Port Glasgow.
The subsea construction firm is spending another £5m on a cable-carrying carousel that can reel 5,500 tonnes of cable onto the barge before it sets off to bury them under the seabed.
