On 25 August 2006 Alexander Murray, an agency worker employed by Aberdeen-based Talisman Energy, was harnessed to the unfinished Beatrice structure when a 15-tonne being held by a heavy-lift vessel swung into him and crushed his leg.

Murray, now 48, was airlifted to hospital at Inverness before being transferred to Aberdeen, where doctors were forced to amputate the leg.

Talisman, an Aberdeen-based oil and gas exploration and production firm, was responsible for managing the project, and received a fine of £225,000.
