The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding to identify the full range of benefits that high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission projects may provide to TVA’s stakeholders.

They will also explore non-discriminatory methods for TVA to utilize independently-owned transmission as a means to improve system reliability, increase resource flexibility and enhance the potential for the integration of renewable energy.

Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, TVA provides electricity for nine million people in seven states.
