Installations totaled 3.36GW through the first three quarters versus 1.92GW in the same 2010 period, bringing US wind energy generating capacity to 43.46GW. Third quarter installations were 1.2GW, almost double 671MW a year ago, enough to power 10 million homes.
AWEA says that 8.4GW of wind installations were under construction at end of the third quarter spanning 90 projects in 29 states.
