Developers can now qualify for the production tax credit (PTC) if they begin construction before it expires, not placed in service as earlier required. The incentive pays $22 per MWh, inflation-adjusted, for the first decade a project is on line.
“We still expect a big decline in wind build. It will be a slow year for completed projects,” says Matt DaPrato, a senior research analyst at IHS Emerging Energy Research.
