Hamburg-based SeaRenergy will transport and install the platforms for the HelWin 1 and BorWin 2 transmission hubs.
The 576MW HelWin1 platform will harness RWE’s Nordsee Ost and Blackstone’s Meerwind offshore wind farms, while the 800MW BorWin2 will link up Windreich’s Global Tech 1.
Both hubs are key – and significantly behind schedule – elements of Germany’s offshore wind connection strategy, which has proved a bigger challenge than expected for the German government, network operator TenneT and Siemens alike.
SeaRenergy says the transport and installation of both platforms will take place this year.
